Characterized by its minty moderate, yet energizing smell with citrus overtones, eucalyptus is often used in aromatherapy to promote an uplifting aroma, vitality, and activity.
USE: Add a few drops to your diffuser to enjoy its benefits and aroma. Add a few drops to a carrier oil and massage into skin to promote its soothing effects. A useful tip – apply diluted to insect bites to relieve soreness or itching.
CAUTION: Always dilute in a carrier oil before skin application. Avoid sensitive areas. Avoid eye contact and mucus membranes. Avoid if you’re pregnant or suffer from high blood pressure or epilepsy. Keep out of the reach of children.
Eucalyptus oil has been used by Aborigines. Considered a cure-all plant, it has been harvested in its 700 varieties.
Its first major use in recent history has been by Baron Ferdinand von Muller who rediscovered its antiseptic properties.
The oil became even more popular in WW1 when it was used during the influenza epidemic. Nowadays eucalyptus is mainly grown in Spain, China, South Africa, Portugal, Chile, and Russia.
